Alliances dominate most traffic areas and markets in the world. And most leading legacy carriers have joined a global alliance or will do so within the next 2-3 years. The window for joining is closing.

But are alliances for everyone? The clear answer is no, they are not. All airlines face a choice: (1) pursue an approach of selected bilateral partnerships or (2) join a global alliance.

How do you decide? Airlines must conduct a thorough best-fit analysis looking at the following options

  1. Bi-laterals only
  2. alliance A, B or C

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Athena Aviation Partners and Associates have extensive experience negotiating entry into alliances and implementing integration programmes. We know the management in all three global alliances, how they think and what their goals are. Because we have been through all four phases of alliance membership several times we can help you navigate the common pitfalls of entry and help you structure the business to realise the alliance value through attention to detail.
